This post is a little late, considering week 2 started a couple days ago. Needless to say, I’ve fallen way behind this week on just about everything, including sleep. I just started a new part-time job on Tuesday, and trying to keep up with Nano, my internship, my blogs, and my freelance work with only six hours a day when I get home has been a huge challenge.
I fell behind on my word count this week for the first time this month, and I still haven’t caught up. On the one hand, it is nice to have the steady income source in the works, but on the other, it has made finding time for and prioritizing the other things I like to work on a really painful process. It’s only 3 days a week, but the way this week went, I feel like I haven’t had time to sleep or sit down since Monday.
Beyond the time issue, I have also entered into a bit of a rut in my Nano story. I knew I needed to spend more time outlining the rest of my story as my outline only covered the first few chapters, and then, I just never got around to the rest of that outline, so now, things are wandering a little aimlessly as I try to piece things together with no end point in sight.
I have no intention of giving up–at 26 thousand words, I’m over halfway there!–so it’s a little late for that. But I am going to have to take this weekend and the holiday next week and kick things into overdrive if I want to finish!
On a positive note, I feel really creative today, but unfortunately, it’s about new projects rather than existing ones. Still, I’m hoping some of that creativity can manifest itself in my Nano novel through osmosis or something…
As to the holiday coming up, I still don’t have plans, so I hope that means I’ll have plenty of extra time to work on keeping up or catching up!
Hope everyone else is staying on track! It’s a busy time of year and trying to get anything done, let alone by a deadline, is no easy feat.
Good luck, readers and wrimos!
